About concrete sleeper

Strong, tidy and built to last.

Steel posts are set in concrete footings along the line of the wall, then concrete sleepers drop in between them, course by course. The result is a strong wall with a slim profile that keeps more of your yard usable.

Concrete sleepers come in plain grey and in textured and coloured finishes, so the wall can suit the house and the garden. Because we also run excavators, we can do the dig, the drainage and the wall as one job.

Before you start

Height and approval

Taller walls, and walls holding up a driveway, building or neighbouring land, usually need engineering and approval. Ask us early and we will tell you what applies to your block.

Finish

Plain, textured or coloured sleepers change the look and the price. Pick with the house and garden in mind.

Drainage

Gravel and a drain pipe behind the wall let water out so it does not push on the sleepers.

What is a concrete sleeper retaining wall?

Steel posts set in concrete footings, with reinforced concrete sleepers slotted between the posts to hold back the soil.

Can a fence go on top of a concrete sleeper wall?

Often, yes. We build fences and retaining walls, so we can plan the wall and the fence together.

Can you do the digging too?

Yes. We run excavators and do earth moving, so one business can handle the excavation and the wall.
